Projects Tips
The project will have a greater chance to be completed if it has the following features:
- The title of the project is brief, concrete and includes the expected result
- The project has a specific deadline in the foreseeable future. (Note that we do not recommend creating projects of the "someday/maybe" variety.)
Here are some examples of proper projects:
Prepare documentation for the proposed project with Lifehacker by the end of the week
Write and publish the e-book "Going to the Next Level" before December 30, 2021
By February 28, prepare the release of version 1.10 of our mobile application
Gain 5 kilograms of muscle mass by September 1, 2021
Pay the first instalment of my mortgage by the end of the year - Each of the tasks of the project is clear, simple and actionable. For example:
Prepare a PowerPoint file for the presentation of the MyMusicGuide project for the weekly meeting
Buy a ticket to New York for a morning flight on September 30, 2021
Call Maxim Terekhov and arrange a meeting to discuss the MyMusicGuide project
Note that the title of each of these tasks is immediately clear. This is important when there are many tasks, because in the middle of your work day, you don’t want to decipher titles like "PowerPoint," "Buy tickets," "Call Max," etc. - At any time, a project should contain at least one task, which is the "next action" towards completing it. The idea is that even if it is not currently possible to properly make an action plan for the project, you can still move forward by doing the "next action." You cannot always plan every detail at once, but you can always plan your next step.
